On Saturday, November 18, 2006, I’ll participate at the Art Exhibit and Sale at the 2006 Annual Ontario Professional Engineers Awards that will take place at The Carlu, located in downtown Toronto. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Engineers Without Borders (www.ewb.ca and www.ewb-international.org).

The Carlu was originally intended to be Eaton's flagship retail complex in the 1930. It is believed to be one of the first models of a concert hall incorporated into a retail shopping centre.

Designed by famed French architect Jacques Carlu, the 7th Floor (as it was then known) is one of the world's best surviving examples of the “Art Moderne” Period.

Named after its famed architect, The Carlu has been restored to exactly what Lady Eaton had envisioned when it opened in 1931. 2006 is the 7th Floor’s 75th Anniversary. It has become the premier multi-functional special events facility in Toronto and has been awarded numerous awards and distinctions.
